Having an in-house printshop is a beautiful thing. Not just figuratively but it’s actually really photogenic or at least we like to think so. Here’s a few photos from our recent production period for our current “Color Theory” collection.

A few months back we made the decision to start printing the bulk of our product in-house. It was something that we have been talking about for a while now and since a large portion of our line is currently made up of t-shirts we figured it would be a wise decision. Since then, learning the art of screen printing has taken over our lives and energy. We’ve learned an insane amount about printing this past month and it feels damn good to say that we’re finally done with our Holiday ’14 delivery.

Here are a few photos from this past month’s production and a look at what you’ll be seeing this upcoming week.

Last night was the opening for the “Swamp Wizards, The Unholdy Trifecta” art show. The show was held at Molotov Gallery in San Diego and featured awesome works by our friends Sketchy Tank, Dresden the Barbarian (@dresdenthebarbarian) , and Tallboy.

In the late 1920’s, crime boss Bugsy Siegel opened an inn located in Lake Arrowhead Villas, known as Braken Fern Manor.  The establishment was a favorite to the wealthy and Hollywood elite of the era.  Siegel offered his high paying guests amenities such as a brothel and speakeasy, taking full advantage of the mountain’s seclusion.

A favorite of brothel visitors and Siegel alike was a prostitute named Violet. Siegel’s feelings went well beyond business when he had Violet’s lover killed out of pure jealousy.  Violet responded to Siegel’s actions by taking her own life.

While Siegel moved on to bigger and better things, it is rumored that Violet never actually left Braken Fern Manor.  People have reported sightings of Violet and her son over the years.  It is said that her Violet scented perfume can be smelled at random times throughout the inn.

Braken Fern Manor is currently open for business and is now considered a Historical Landmark of California.

This shirt is our tribute to Violet and her legacy. It is now available in the online shop on premium, vintage washed blanks.

We met up with our old friends Jordan and Dani Cathey to get some much needed business cards printed and pressed. Since the idea of business cards is somewhat of a dated concept, we figured we would go the full nine and use a letterpress process that many would say is dated itself.

Over the past few years, Jordan and Dani have been teaching themselves letterpress in their garage. Working under the name, Noteworthy Letterpress, they have had steady work since their beginning in 2010 and are looking to continue to grow as time goes on. With no formal training and this skill being lost to more modern machinery, their quality and knowledge is more than impressive.

Winter has been an important part in the development of WeatherMTN. While it hasn’t been the deciding factor on everything that we stand for, it has been an undeniable influence. These are a few of our favorite images from the the past few months.

Things are about to get going here within the next week or so and we wanted to get you all up to speed with what we’re all about. We’ve been talking about the idea of this “brand” for longer than we can remember and its turned into something that none of us would have imagined. Instead of jumping straight into this from the get go, we wanted to make sure what we were doing was what we actually wanted to do. We wanted to make it for us, we wanted to make it something unique. What we have created is something that truly represents who we are and what we’re into. To give you a better understand of this idea, we have cleaned out our inspiration folders and photo albums and have turned them into two blog posts. These images are of things we have collected, places we have been and people who have inspired us. This post is split into two sections; Summer and Winter. Since Summer is just around the corner, we figure it would be a good place to start. Enjoy.
